There is nothing to see in this video.. I am hiding so Keira can't see the camera. This was taken about 5 min after she got a time out for throwing her plate on the floor. In her mind whatever happens to her happens to the baby. When she gets a time out or has to take her inhaler she inflicts the same punishment on the baby. The baby gets a time out / or has to take medicine too.
While in time out we told her throwing her plates/cups etc is naughty and bad. We said " No, you don't throw plates" I also tell her it makes me sad when she is naughty.
If you listen you can hear her telling her baby that she is naughty and bad. She also says no and sad. After I stopped the camera she said "Time out, bed" which is where she had to sit for her time out.

Yet another funny Keira quote
While grocery shopping with daddy, Mike reports that Keira pointed to a bag of Dunkin Donuts coffee and said "Bagel!." Her only exposure to Dunkins being when I hit the drive through for a bagel to keep the nausea at bay. Apparently even a toddler can recognize a familiar label and lettering.

First grill of 2009
On Sunday Mike picked up some marinated steak tips and excitedly told me that he was going to grill them for dinner Monday. I was excited because meat tastes so much better grilled and because that would mean I wouldn't have to smell them cooking. Monday's weather ended up being a high of 33 degrees, cloudy and very windy. So much for grilling. Miked broiled them in the oven and I locked myself in the bathroom with a towel under the door to block out all smells and gave Keira a bath while it was cooking.... Mike then had to open the door, air out the house and light a few candles and after all that I was able to eat a few bites.
Today started out at 27 degrees but warmed up nicely in the 50's so Mike tried again. Thankfully he was able to grill some steak and asparagus today outside!!! Keira and Mike very much enjoyed it and I was able to eat a decent portion. Lets hope the warm weather continues and we can keep grilling- at least until smells stop bothering me.
The other highlight of today was that I was able to do a bit of yard work and I can't even tell you how happy that made me!!! I raked up my garden, pulled some old weeds and did some general yard clean up. I would have gotten alot more done but poor teething Keira was being an accessory on my hip and I can't rake and hold a toddler at the same time. Usually playing outside is her favorite thing and she is happy to amuse herself, but not lately. Hoping the molars show up soon and I get my happy baby back.
Baby update 1
Yesterday was my first midwife appointment. It went great. The midwife said she would check for the heartbeat but warned me they might not find it as it was early. They said the same for Keira because it was early when we first heard her heartbeat as well. And just like Keira the midwife found it in less than 10 seconds. It was in the 160's and beating away. I love that sound!!!!!
The rest of the appointment went well. Its hard to describe but this whole different approach to pregnancy and birthing is so new and interesting to me. After hearing all about Keira's birth and how it was pretty much all of 3 hours the midwife said if I don't think I can get to the birth center in time to just call and she will come to me! I don't think my OB ever said that! Anyways all in all I was very happy with her. At the next appointment I meet the other midwife and that's it. Its one or the other and they each have a midwife student aka their assistants and that's it. So far all is well with bambini and mom is hanging tight to the hope of feeling better soon....

Keira-isms
Language at this age is so funny. Keira cracks us up multiple times a day with things she says. I tell Mike all the time I don't know what we laughed about before Keira. She is out hourly comic relief.
For instance... Twice after Sunday Mass in the past 2 months or so we have gone downstairs for donuts. Every time we are at church now for anything.. whether its a meeting , church or whatever Keira says "Donuts, Donuts!" She isn't even a big fan of them and doesn't usually take more than 1 or 2 bites but she always excitedly says " Donuts, Donuts! " when we pull into the parking lot.
Keira loves fruit snacks. She is seriously addicted to them. She asks for them at least 5 times a day. She calls all fruit snacks, fruit leathers, dried fruit sticks.. anything of that sort "Gummies"
One time about 2 months ago I put a pack of them in my pocket and went into the playroom where she was playing... I pulled them out of my pocket to give her and now she thinks that both Mike and I permanently carry Gummies in our pockets. Anytime we reach into any coat or hoodie pocket she says "Gummie? Gummie?" She knows where I keep them in the pantry too and every time I open the pantry for anything she comes running yelling "Gummies, gummies!"
Apple juice is a big and rare treat in this house for her. She knows that its from the grocery store.. because when she asks muliple times day for apple juice I tell her its at the store and Daddy will get some next time he goes. Sunday morning Mike went shopping and as he is bringing in the bags of groceries Keira comes running to the back door yelling "apple juice? apple juice!"
She has so many funny expressions that now that I sit down to write them down so I won't forget them I can't remember any of them.
The one word she says all day that cracks me up the most lately is when she asks for her cup- she calls water- wa-ja... and its so funny for some reason!
She has taken to sleeping with her babies and bears.. she brings them downstairs in the am so for every nap and bedtime we have to go all over the house and round up all her babies and her 2 bears. Normally she just sleeps with her 3 babies and 2 bears... she has 3 other dolls that she doesn't play with much. Well today she wanted to sleep with them all... She kept saying "Here Daddy" as she handed him each doll. Mike went up the stairs to put her to bed carrying 2 blankets, 2 bears, and 5 babies!

Stripping diapers.....
These are all out of order so start at the bottom and read up!
clean pocket diaper inserts
clean fleece liners
clean cloth wipes
clean fitteds
Clean pre folds
step 4- hang or line dry diapers- hanging them in the sun can further brighten and freshen them but we have no sun lately so that shoots that idea! ( voila.. super clean and fresh poop catchers....)
step 2- I forgot to take pics of.. rinse diapers by hand in cold water. Then throw in wash machine for at least 4 more rinses. Then run a wash load on hot with no detergent and a tad of bleach if you really want everything clean. 2 more rinses...
Step 1- soak diapers in hot water and Dawn dish washing soap for at least 30 min. Then if you really want to get them clean. Scrub each diaper for a min or so with a soft brush or a tooth brush.
When you are bored and have a ultra sensitive nose..... you get the idea of stripping the diapers. This is the first time I have done this and we have been using cloth since last July/August. I know there are at least 3 readers that are newbie cloth users so I have charted the waters for you! Haha.. actually I found it quite fun.. but then again I enjoy laundry so call me crazy! Anyways.. all detergents leave residue on clothes... in diapers its a big deal because over time the detergents build up and then the fabric is peed and pooped in it also collects bacteria.... hence you can acquire stink issues in your diapers. I haven't really had "stink issues" but I figured its a good idea to "strip" the diapers of the detergent build up every now and then and make them a bit fresher! So here begins the process. There are several ways to do this. I did it by hand by washing my diapers in Dawn.
