Before and After

Mike built these cabinets, but we ordered the doors because I didn't want him spending the whole weekend in his workshop making them. After 2 months they finally arrived in the mail. Mike put them up today and they look great!!

Backyard fun!!!

We bought Keira a pool since its supposed to be 94 degrees out today and we are trying ( trying is key here) to go without AC this summer. She LOVES it. We hit a good yard sale this morning and got her a few new outdoor toys to keep her entertained. She had a blast this afternoon playing.

AFTER!!!!

Our new tub surround from bathfitters is done!!!The pictures don't do it justice. It looks great and we have lots of shelves to put bottles of shampoo etc on. The best news of course is we can return to taking showers tomorrow and not have to worry about water leaking behind tiles anymore!!!! Can't you just feel the excitment???

Allergy talk

Thank you all for your answers about the allergy stuff!!!! To answer a few questions if anyone has any links with good recipes etc for stuff as long as its gluten, wheat, soy, egg and dairy free- send it my way!!!
I actually have given her rice milk a few times. Some days she will drink it and some days she won't. Its a good source of calcium for babies but its fat free or close to fat free and babies need lots of fat until age too.... hence the Goat milk suggestion. After age 2 though I think rice milk would be a good option because its lots cheaper. I wish she could do soy milk. I am in love with the Silk Very vanilla soy milk. It tastes like a milk shake.
The tricky part with all of this is it leaves so little room for variety. Keira will pretty much only eat food that she can feed herself with the exception of applesauce and a few other things. I feel like I always feed her the same foods... Dry oat Cheerios and rice crispies cold cereal, brown rice, brown rice pasta, steamed veggies, raw veggies grated, Tons and tons of fresh and dried fruit, Turkey and chicken, all natural deli meat and hot dogs. For treats ( after meals) we do fruit leathers, rice cakes, and salty puffed veggie puffs and chips. Anyone have any other ideas????

allergy update

So the doctor that was going to test Keira for food allergies called Keira's doc and said that the tests are grossly inaccurate until about age 3 and most of the time not covered by insurance so she did not recommend doing them-YET. Keira's doc said that we could start/try her on Goat's milk- which I might add is 3.69/per quart!!!!! OUCH! Ohhh and since we aren't going to allergy test her yet she said that we should just keep Keira on a wheat free, glueten free, soy free, egg free, dairy free diet. GREAT.... that is so easy to do. All this special food is expensive!
Anyways Mike stopped at Trader Joe's again and picked up some Goats milk- I am going to try her on it tomorrow. She technically doesn't need any other milk as long as she is still nursing 3-4 times a day but I would like her to get used to another type of milk.
I am going to do a bit of research on the allergy testing thing..... becuase I do know some babies that have been allergy tested.

Boredom is really starting to set in. Its been rainy for 2 days now. I am trying to stay away from stores since I really shouldn't spend any money right now but Keira is really being whiny - most likely because she is as stir crazy as I am. So, it is supposed to be nicer tomorrow, but BathFitters will be here. Hopefully they don't take long and we can visit some friends or at least go for a walk.

As you can see...she is soo bored that she decided to remove every tissue from the tissue box. And then Mike threw them up at her. Kept her entertained and from whining for 5 minutes.

We went to the doctor today because her leg isn't any better and she said that she had an allergic reaction to the shot, not sure what in the shot- maybe a preservative or something.

Salty snacks

I figured how to get 2 seconds to myself to get laundry done... Feed Keira salty snacks... as in veggie chips. Munching on these things kept her amused for almost 15 minutes- which is alot of time when your really cranky as Keira is today.

Keira's boo boo

As you can see Keira got a nasty reaction to her Dtap shot yesterday. She has this huge, hard, red, and hot area on her leg. We have been giving her Motrin and Tylenol all day. I also applyed my old soothies ( cooling gel packs for sore nipples when breastfeeding... :o) See the first pic. We had to tape it to her leg as she won't leave it on

12 month stats!

Keira had her 12 month check-up today. She weighs in at 18 lbs 10 oz. Mike and I made a bet on her weight like we always do- the loser has to make some dessert for tonight. Mike's guess on her weight was 18 /5 and mine was 18 6. So I was closer and Mike has to make dessert! :o) She is 29 inches long. I love her new Doctor. She is going to finally get allergy tested for foods- namely wheat, dairy and soy. Hopefully they will come out negative and its just an intolerance she will outgrow. And after we allergy test her if her wheezing doesn't go away then she is going to go see a pediatric pulmonologist ( sp?) to rule out asthma. It will be nice to finally have some answers!!!
She only had to get one shot- The DTap shot. I guess there is a national shortage of the HIB vaccine and they are saying that healthy babies 12 months and up don't need another dose. We are holding off on the chicken pox and the MMR vaccines until she is a bit older.
We made a trip Trader Joe's recently and stocked up on healthy snacks. I LOVE that store. So wish there was one closer to our house. We found some new snacks that Keira can have and LOVES.. Veggie puffs and Veggie chips... salty stuff. A true girl.

New toys

Keira's Godfather got her this cool new kitchen set yesterday for her birthday. She loves it. Her favorite thing to do is take the sink in and out since its removable.

More tub work.

Keira is helping daddy work on the tub!!! Mike finished the insulation and drywall yesterday so its all ready for Bathfitters. I called them this morning and they are coming on Friday. Until then its baths only. Its a bit of a challenge to wash your hair in a bathtub without splashing any water on the surrounding drywall!! If we had one of those big ole Jacuzzi tubs I don't think it would be such of a issue. :o) Its a good thing Keira can still bathe in the kitchen sink. There is no way to bathe that girl without her splashing water EVERYWHERE!
