Saturday at the park

When the playground gets boring you move onto more exciting things... piles of rocks!

Keira LOVED the Zip line - in case you can't tell...

The last of the fall colors...

More city skyline

The most exciting news of the day.... Mike started the wood floor in Keira's new room! It looks great so far. We will post some pics when its finished. Probably next weekend. We convinced Mike to abandon his hardwood flooring nailer for a quick trip to the park.

This is our life!

Gotta love Baby Blues. Probably the best comic out there (for Tanya). Dilbert is still my personal favorite.

Also found this one while looking for the above comic.

P.S We are a pro-breastfeeding family. Lest anyone gets the wrong idea.

Frugal Friday..

So when you are too poor to go out and do anything exciting on a Friday night you get creative. Mike and I made 2 apple crumble pies ( no, the two of us aren't going to eat 2 whole pies just in case you were wondering). One pie is for Mike's poker night and the other is for a family function tomorrow. Here I am mixing the apples... I don't have a bowel big enough so I use my huge stock pot.

Who wouldn't love a man that makes a homemade pie crust??? :o)

Cloth Diapers

In case anyone is wondering, we are cloth diapering full time now. Even at night. Once in a while we use pampers or Luv's when we are out or if we will be gone all day. I love it now... no more diapers to buy and no more billions of diapers stinking up the trash. I do about 3 extra loads of laundry a week in diapers. Keira's skin looks fabulous. My mother in law has made me a few diapers as well. In the first picture are all my pre folds. The cheapest and most difficult to use cloth diaper. In the second pictures is everything else. The third picture is my homemade ( thanks to my MIL for her sewing skills) cloth wipes. The fourth picture is of cloth doublers... things you put in diapers for more absorbency!

Once again America you dissapoint me!!!

Dear Keira,
Its a sad and sick country that you are going to grow up in. Hopefully someday you will believe us when we tell you that the world is evil and that the ways of the world are not God's ways. :o( I don't know how we will explain to you that 4,000 people of your generation are aborted EVERY DAY in our country, and no the American people don't care one bit about it. Apparently they think the economy is more important than life itself.
After reading this mom blog that she shed tears of happiness that her children will grow up in the Obama years.... http://mom-101.blogspot.com/. I can assure that daddy and I will shed tears of sadness.
Love, Mama and Daddy.

How can you hide behind the term "choice"

WARNING!: Contains VERY Graphic Scenes and Images.

Baking with a toddler

I am pretty proud of myself for this idea...... Its sort of a homemade "learning tower" - if you don't know what that is goggle it! Anyways Keira stood up here next to me while I made banana bread. She played with my spices basket and my measuring cups basket and let me bake in piece instead on hanging on my legs and whining....
She ohhhed and ahhed over the mixer that was right next to her mashing bananas and mixing the batter and only tried to stick her finger in it about 6 times. After about 20 min up here she figured out that she could climb on the counter and open the cabinets and help herself to some snacks. At that point I had to take her down. But hey, the banana bread is made. Mission accomplished.

This sums it all up nicely

up early

This is on Mike's list of projects to get done sometime in the near future!! Add a door to the pantry so that Keira can't help herself to snacks 24-7!!

Eating "natural" cheetos at 8 30 am!! She is sitting on her rocking chair which is a Christmas present... and also on Mike's list to sand and refinish!!!

Anyone with young children knows that when daylight savings time comes around things get interesting....

Keira usually sleep from 630 pm- 530 am, nurses and goes back to sleep till 630 or 7 am. Last night she was up at 4 am to nurse and up for the day at 5 30 am. (yawn.....) Since we were up super early Mike and I decided to make some yummy breakfast instead of our usual muffins, toast, english muffins etc. We made home fries and eggs. Keira loved it as long as everything was dipped in sugary ketchup of course.

The weekend

Keira's been more than a bit fussy lately. We are assuming its the 2 new molars that we can see peeping through her gums... she wants nothing to do with anyone except me. Not even daddy whom she adores. Tonight I popped her in my Mei Tai so I could get dinner and some laundry done.

Keira turned 17 months old yesterday!! Our baby is growing up! She says a lot of new words every week. This week a few favorites are "garbage" she says it and they likes to be picked up so she can throw something away ( as most of you know our kitchen garbage is up on a shelf to keep Keira out of it). She also says hat after we come inside after playing outside and takes my hat off... She is starting to string words together just a bit... "bye bye daddy" etc. I know.. things only a mother would get excited about.

Mike spent most of the weekend (in between trips to both Lowe's and Home Depot) working on the bathroom and our bedroom door. In this picture he is working on our bedroom door.

This is the completed ( stained and polyed) bathroom door. It used to look like the bedroom door. It looks great! Nice work Mike.

Miss K ready for Sunday morning Mass of course.
