36 1/2 weeks

Wednesday I will be considered in the "safe to be born at home" category. Midwife doesn't think he will be too big as she said my belly is small.... SMALL??? WHAT??? I feel huge! I expect another 6-7 lber though. She said and I quote " Wooooow. That head is really down there!! Its like RIGHT there! Good news I guess? She also said that when my water breaks its gonna be a flood... and I quote " Your belly is as hard as a rock, you have got a ton of fluid in there. " Interesting observation I guess. Trying to hard to be patient and trying to stay busy. So. Not. Easy!

So tiny....

Just so you can see how tiny this stuff is .... this is Keira's baby doll wearing a newborn diaper!

Have you ever seen anything so cute???

In the cloth diaper world this is called newborn fluff. I belong to an online forum with an amazing group of mama's that have created a newborn baby diaper pass around kit. Babies only wear this teeny tiny stuff for a few weeks to months at most so instead of all of us spending $$ for our babies to wear this stuff for a few weeks they just pass around the kit. I got it in the mail today and the stuff is soooo tiny and sooo cute!!!
The top picture is diaper covers, the second is pre folds, the third is wool diaper covers, and the last picture is of fitteds diapers and pockets.
You will of course be seeing baby boy with his adorable cloth diaper butt as soon as he arrives. Stay tuned....

Its crunch time!!

Well sort of. As most of you know I have been nesting for MONTHS. I had finished most things baby related a while ago and have spent the rest of the time cleaning out everything and anything I could find; including our basement, shed, fridge etc. All major things have been done.. car seat installed, clothes washed, crib set up etc etc. I had started on my midwife's list of "supplies" to have in house- then I switched midwives. They all have their own lists of stuff they like you to have on hand. Today I got the list for my new midwife so that should keep me busy this week. It mostly includes washing lots of towels and receiving blankets and then drying them on HOT and sealing in bags. Ohhh and making lots of frozen maxi pads. If you have ever had a baby you know the hospital gives you those maxi pads that you shake up and they provide icy cooling relief. We when you have a baby at home you get to make your own. I got sent home with a bag of dried Comfrey and a French Press. Instructions are to make a pot of Comfrey tea and pour it over pads and then freeze. Comfrey is known for its cooling and healing properties. I am also supposed to make a batch soaked in witch hazel. Fun fun. This will be the first time I have ever had maxi pads in my freezer.....

Baby boy is doing fine but hasn't dropped yet... which I know since I can barely breath after going up one flight of stairs. He is still head down and measuring 36 weeks. Midwife suggested lots of walking to get him to drop, hard to do when you get out of breath so easily but I am working in it! The law in NH is that a baby must be at least 37 weeks to be purposely born at home, so I am waiting till I hit that mark to really start walking hills etc to get him to come out.... Just a week and a half till I hit that mark... watch him hang out in here till 41 weeks. That would not make me happy!!!! I am shooting for the Friday before Columbus day ( I think its the 8th or 9th of Oct) as Mike only gets 4 days off and he automatically gets Columbus day off. So that would give him a full week and a weekend to help me out with healing and baby care. I am so excited to meet this little guy and see how he looks like and what his personality is!!!

New stuff

Our neighbor brought over the pink trike with the tassels and gave it to Keira as her grand daughter had outgrown it. Keira was all excited but quickly got frustrated when she realized her legs were too short to push the pedals. Hopefully next year!
A friend of mine gave us this hot wheels barbie trail rider. Her mother had given her the barbie car and a firetruck. Since my friend just has boys she gave us the Barbie car. It took Keira a few times to catch on that she had to press the pedal with her foot and keep pressing it to make the car go. Once she got it she loved it ! She has no sense of direction so you have to steer the car for her but it provided lots of fun. The funny thing is both Mike and I remembered that as kids we really wanted a hot wheels car but since both of us grew up in big families with little money we never got one!

Labor Day 2009

We had more great weather today so we spent a leisurely day outside. We spent the morning at the park, made a quick trip to Lowes and Target and had a picnic in the backyard.
