Nh Cousins

While most of us were at Grammie's funeral all the kids hang out at our house. Luckily it was a nice day since last week was 90% rainy and its supposed to be rainy for the next 8 days or so.

Swimming is tiring!

Keira loves to watch the grabage trucks pick up the garbage. She always stands on the couch and waits and then gets excited when they pull up.

Just to wrap it all up....

Thank you all for your name votes. We are still undecided as I am sure most of you guessed. We still have about 17 weeks to make up our mind I guess? Although I really want to name the baby so we can start calling him by name we simply cannot nail down a name as final. All of the names you voted on are top contenders but we are still out there searching.... and searching.
The weekend has vanished... the highlights were a baptism, a farewell to our beloved Fr. Marc party ( he has been pastor at our church for 26 years), a few good yard sales, and of course what weekend would be complete without a home improvement project? Mike had to move the spigot for the hose in the backyard while working in the deck and replaced it yesterday. Because our garden is in the backyard as well as the fact that Keira is a water bug and we fill up her pool constantly we really have missed having a hose in the backyard. Hauling the hose from the front yard has been a pain in the butt! Anyways after 5 ( yes 5!!!) trips to Home Depot and Lowes the hose line is installed and NOT leaking! Woohooo Mike! Mike hates plumbing working and it always takes him longer to get it done but its done!
No weekend is ever complete either without some cleaning and organizing ( especially now that I am pregnant) We are working on emptying out the last unfinished room in our house so that it can be the new "nursery." Baby V probably won't get to inhabit the room until next spring to summer but we are getting the plans for the room together and organizing all our "stuff" that was in the room and now must be moved to the only storage area left in the house- the basement. This involved some purging ( aka donating) most of Keira's baby clothes to a crisis pregnancy center to make room for storage of baby boy clothes.
The week ahead holds some good byes and hello's for us. My 91 year old grandmother passed away after about 2 months in the hospital. Her funeral is Wednesday morning in MA and my brother Mark and his wife and kids arrive for their annual visit Thursday. They live in Europe so we only get to see them once a year so its always a good time! Summer is flying by!

Just ordinary stuff

The weekend is wrapping up. Mike hosted his first ever poker night at our house Saturday ( we don't have a big enough table for 10 people to be able to play) but now that we have a deck its no problem. We borrowed some picnic tables from Mike's parents, and one of Mike's friends provided some awesome meat that Mikes' dad grilled up. We rounded that off with rice pilaf, cous cous and some grilled corn on the cob... YUM!
Today after church we spent the day in the yard. Mike finished the lattice for the deck and worked on a few other loose ends. Keira played outside and I puttered around in my garden. We seem to have some bug issues. They are eating some of my lettuce and green bean leaves. I need to google organic bug killer or natural remedies to keep them away from my precious lettuce which is so tasty! I read something about coffee grounds deterring some bugs but since neither of us drink coffee I need to call around some local coffee places and see if they will donate their used coffee grounds to an eager gardener.
I also purchased round 2 of cucumber plants. The first batch was planted prior to the deck completion and a few of them got trampled on by accident.. and the rest of them failed to grow much. They popped up out of the ground right away and then stalled. They are the closest to the deck and I think the deck has cast a slight shadow on that area of the garden making it a bit to shady in that row only. I am keeping my fingers crossed for some great garden cukes!! The ones we get in the stores here in the northeast all winter are mushy and pretty tasteless and cukes are one of my favorite veggies. The first year we planted a garden we got 70-80 cukes from like 4 plants. Last year due to all the rain we had lots of area gardeners including myself had issues with white cukes and mildew. So in a desperate attempt to get some cukes I purchased batch 2 of cuke plants and planted them in the sunniest row and and I am hoping we get some tasty cukes. Where the first failed batch of cukes were planted I planted 2 hosta's and some ornamental grass.
Keira has entered the terrible two's seemingly overnight with her favorite word being "no!
even though she can speak in full sentences. I thought we went through the no stage already around 12-15 months when she was first learning to speak but apparently not. She likes to say- Keira do it and Keira by myself do it! But I am happy to say that once again we seem to have won the bedtime battle for the time being. We have convinced her to stay in her bed until she wakes up so she now goes to bed as easily as before thank goodness!!! We all need our sleep around here. She wants nothing to do with potty training and delights in taking off her diaper and running around the house completely naked. You have to keep an eye on her though because she will just pee or poop anywhere.. whereas before she would at least attempt to get to the potty.
One of her most delightful talents is reciting an entire book from memory. She sits down and recites it word for word like she is reading. Its so funny to listen too. One of her most annoying traits is asking for a specific food rather loud and bossily ( I want yogurt and oats! Yogurt and oats! Mama yogurt and oats! ) and then once you give it to her she takes one bite and is done. I try to remind her that I am looking to save money and wasting food like that drives me crazy but for some reasons she doesn't care.

Happy Birthday Keira!

Daddy put a gummy worm on Keira's vanilla/Oreo cupcakes ( that daddy made) because anything gummy is her absolute favorite. She gobbled up the worm and wanted nothing to do with the cupcake. Mike and I enjoyed them immensely though.

Blowing out or should I say spitting on the candles?

She knows the Happy Birthday song by heart since we have been singing it for a few days now so she sang along with us.

Her new Bike thanks to her Godfather Mike Hippert! Its great for us too because it has a long handle so no more aching backs from bending over to push it!

Her new pool from mama and daddy. We also gave her a china tea set which she spent all morning playing with. Memere and Pepere gave Keira some books, a ballerina outfit, and some Little People.

The poor birthday girl was in good spirits for the most part besides having a low grade fever.... not sure if its molars or what!

My favorite time of year!

Front planter boxes that I finally got planted.

Backyard Annuals

The real reason I wanted a deck!!! Mike hasn't had a chance to build me a clothes line yet- but in the meantime I am psyched to be able to hang clothes outside in the sun to dry

First lettice and chives from the garden. Yum yum

So big!

Someone who has had multiple children please explain to me why my belly has to be so enormous already at 20 weeks? I never had this much of a belly at 20 weeks with Keira! I already find bending over difficult....
We finalized the plan for the birth. I am gonna be adventurous and try to have the baby at home. We are going to rent a big heated birthing tub thingie and hope for another 3 hour ( or less) labor. Considering I am 20 weeks and still feeling like total crud I am going hope that I gotta get some luck in this whole pregnancy and labor business.. with Keira's pregnancy I felt that it was fair that I had a super fast and pretty easy labor since my pregnancy was pretty crappy.
And I am sad to say the little guy still has no name. We just can't come up with anything that we both like, that's not to popular, that goes with Vigneau, that's not to long, that's manly.. yada yada!

Bedtime Battles

Keira had us all fooled with her good bedtime behavior. She was a perfect angle for the first 2 nights in her big girl bed.. and then she realized she has all his power and freedom at her fingertips why not use it a bit?
So now that she has figured out how to get in and out of bed- out is the only place she wants to be. She climbs out of bed as soon as we finish all the story reading. We close the door and the baby gate because we know that very soon she will figure out how to open the door. She then proceeds to stand by the door and whine, cry and talk for a long time. The past nights its been between an hour and an hour and a half.. standing by the door whining and talking and occasionally crying. She is always worse when I put her to bed so 90% of the time its Mike's job. Yesterday she refused to take a nap and stood up by the door doing the usual for an hour and 10 min until I gave up and brought her downstairs... she skipped a nap for like the second time in her life!
Oh well. Such is life with a toddler.
