Tree and swing

Keira had lots of fun decorating our tree. She put like 3 or 4 ornaments on top of each other on one branch and than none on one side of the tree.

The lights of the tree kept Israel entertained for a good solid 15 min which is like a record with him. He never goes that long without fussing unless he is sleeping.

We are borrowing the Harrison's fancy cradle swing to see if that will help him nap during the day. I used to be able to put him down and he would sleep for a few hours but now he doesn't do that often anymore I can't hold him while he naps all day. So far its not working so good. he fails his arms and cries when I put him in it so we swaddle him up and he likes that better and will sometimes fall asleep in the swing but 20 min later he is fussing again. We will keep trying!!

first snow

Keira was very excited to see snow. She wanted to wear her snow suit to church. We tried to build a snowman and ended up with a pathetic one that was about 12 inches high. Not quite enough snow just yet.

Israel passed out at the Christmas party. Check out his arm in the air... :o)

Save me daddy!!!

Mikes work had a Christmas party for the kids today. This was Keira's first time seeing Santa up close and personal since last Christmas. Mike asked her if she wanted to sit on his lap and she said NO!! So he placed her on his lap anyway to see what she would do....

She immediately tried to get off!
It was too funny!!

Vanilla Chai

Mike promised Keira a Vanilla Chai (tea) from Dunkins if she pooped in the potty. Yesterday she finally did it and she enjoyed her Vanilla Chai ( don't worry we only let her drink like 1/4 of it) Apparently it didn't have much of an influence on her even though she loves them as a few hours later she pooped in her diaper and a few hours after that peed on the floor after her bath... just like a puppy. I have to say that potty training so far has gotten the award as most frustrating part of parenting so far. Which really surprises me because Keira is such an easy going laid back kind of kid.. she took to everything easily ( sleeping in a crib, weaning etc) but not potty training. And so we trod on and hope that patience will pay off.....

life

The kiddos on a walk all bundled up.

Israel is super fussy from 3 pm till 7 or 8 or 9 pm and then he usually passes out on daddy in some way shape or form. Never on me since apparently I smell like a milk factory. Every time I try to snuggle him to sleep like Mike does he gets angry and looks for milk even if I just fed him.

Keira reading Israel a story.
Life is chaotic with 2... but in a good way.

Twas the month before Christmas

Twas the month before Christmas

When all through our land,
Not a Christian was praying Nor taking a stand.
See the PC Police had taken away The reason for Christmas - no one could say.
The children were told by their schools not to sing About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.
It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say December 25th is just a ' Holiday '.
Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!
CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-Pod Something was changing, something quite odd! Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.
As Targets were hanging their trees upside down At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.
At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.
Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-is-ty Are words that were used to intimidate me.
Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton!
At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.
And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded The reason for the season, stopped before it started.
So as you celebrate 'Winter Break' under your 'Dream Tree' Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.
Choose your words carefully, choose what you say Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS , Not Happy Holiday!
Please, all Christians join together and Wish everyone you meet MERRY CHRISTMAS Christ is The Reason' for the Christ-mas Season!

Disclaimer

I stole this format from Teresa's Blog!!!

Outside my window....Its cloudy and cold and I wish it was spring.
I am thinking… that Monkey Boy ( as we affectionately call the littlest male in the house) is growing fast. As evidenced by 3 things just yesterday. #1 size one diapers are getting tight, #2 He can now face out in the Baby Bjorn and he likes it much better, # 3 we already had to move the shoulder straps in his carseat up to the higher level.
I am thankful for … 1 awesome God, 1 amazing husband, and 2 healthy kids in that order.
I am reading … not much lately. But John brought me " A Walk with Jane Austin" by Lori Smith so I am going to start that tonight hopefully.
I am hoping … that I survive the winter without death by cabin fever and lack of sunshine.
On my mind … that we seriously need an Advent wreath. Placing 4 random candles on the table just doesn't have the same affect and qualifies as ghetto.
We’re learning … All things Cinderella, Heidi, and princess related.
Noticing that … I am longing for spring.
Pondering these words … "The days are long but the years are short"
From the kitchen … I need to find some good cookie recipes to try out for my upcoming 2 cookie swaps.
Around the house … As Always there is home improvement going on. Mike continues work on Israel's room even though in reality we hope to we able to sell this house in the next year or 2 and buy something with more space- LOTS more space!
One of my favorite things … my laptop... I'll admit it. I need a bit of the Internet to get me through the day as much as I need sugar.
A picture I am sharing …

Keira playing in the fort I made her last week. When our new sink and toilet for the bathroom upstairs arrived in the mail it brought with it 4 HUGE boxes that were perfect for fort making.

Home improvement updates

Mikes has starting the framing in for the built in beds and dressers. My dad donated to two old dressers ( see third pic) to be the built in drawers so that saved us from searching Craigslist for them. We will paint them and change the knobs probably.

Our toilet and sink arrived via UPS. Here they are set up in the teeny tiny bathroom to be. Still waiting on the plumber to run the pipes to the second floor and then Mike can get to work putting the toilet and sink in. Mike's parents have some leftover flooring from their kitchen redo a few months ago so we are going to use that for the floor.
