First grill of 2009

On Sunday Mike picked up some marinated steak tips and excitedly told me that he was going to grill them for dinner Monday. I was excited because meat tastes so much better grilled and because that would mean I wouldn't have to smell them cooking. Monday's weather ended up being a high of 33 degrees, cloudy and very windy. So much for grilling. Miked broiled them in the oven and I locked myself in the bathroom with a towel under the door to block out all smells and gave Keira a bath while it was cooking.... Mike then had to open the door, air out the house and light a few candles and after all that I was able to eat a few bites.
Today started out at 27 degrees but warmed up nicely in the 50's so Mike tried again. Thankfully he was able to grill some steak and asparagus today outside!!! Keira and Mike very much enjoyed it and I was able to eat a decent portion. Lets hope the warm weather continues and we can keep grilling- at least until smells stop bothering me.
The other highlight of today was that I was able to do a bit of yard work and I can't even tell you how happy that made me!!! I raked up my garden, pulled some old weeds and did some general yard clean up. I would have gotten alot more done but poor teething Keira was being an accessory on my hip and I can't rake and hold a toddler at the same time. Usually playing outside is her favorite thing and she is happy to amuse herself, but not lately. Hoping the molars show up soon and I get my happy baby back.

It did indeed end up really nice out today! I'm glad you got some yard work done! =) And those steak tips sound delicious.

There is nothing better to me than food on the grill...everything taste better. I understand totally on the toddler on the hip...I think Brooke might have forgotten that she can walk...not quite that bad..but at times it is.

Yum! Hope it warms up so you can eat on the grill more often! Clinging...the next stage in the lives of our toddlers!
